It’s still early in the year… maybe a bit early to start getting too excited about the size of some antlers but we can’t help but keeping an eager eye on a couple of our yearlings that are just taking off. Mojave and Saguaro are getting such a start this year that we can’t help but expect some greatness out of each of them. They look like they are going to be phenomenal bucks.

These great looking yearlings share genes from a pair of brothers out of High Roller and B-33. Saguaro points back to Timberbuck, sired by Timberjack, while Mojave points back through his mother to Lumberjack. Timberjack and Lumberjack have both proven themselves to be producers of amazing deer. The mother of these twins, B-33, is one of the triplets out of Geronimo, making her a sister to RDM Goliath who set the record as the world’s highest scoring B &C buck.
W-255, the mother of Mojave, not only points back to Lumberjack but comes from an entire line of Flees animals on the bottom of her pedigree. This leaves her possessing some of the finest genetics. Mojave’s father also points back to some highly impressive genes. Sired by the well respected GB Magic, we can expect this deer to be magnificent
Saguaro has a pedigree that turns out to be just as impressive. Grandfathered by RDM Goliath, Saguaro is sure to take on a mighty size. Between Goliath and High Roller, Saguaro traces his pedigree back to two different deer that grew out over 400”. We’re sure no matter how this deer turns out, it’s going to be great.
This breeding all came out of a recommendation Scott received early on in his deer farming career thanks to Kevin Grace at Whitetails Sales and Service in Missouri. In August of 2007 Scott got the opportunity to get these great genetics together from Ohio Trophy Deer Breeders… and it’s given us here at Apple Creek our biggest two yearlings to date. A pair of yearlings that have left as anxiously awaiting the fall, and next fall… we simply can’t wait to see how massive these bucks will be in a few years.
